Spiritual awakening. Two words in almost everyone’s mouth for the last few years. These words constantly appear on (parts of) mainstream media, personal blogs, websites and especially all over social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many other ones. A spiritual awakening is when one becomes aware that there is a spiritual reality, not just “out there”, but within ourselves. When one realizes the fact that there’s a lot more going on besides what we can experience with our own five senses.
There’s not always a specific time and place with which such an awakening occurs. Sometimes it can be gradual, taking its time through weeks, months, years and even decades; other times it might happen very suddenly, sometimes through an unexpected event. But no matter how it happens, a spiritual awakening is, more often than not, extremely profound, with a tremendous impact on one’s life.
But What Does Having A Spiritual Awakening Actually Mean?
To many people, a spiritual awakening can mean different things. The one thing that is agreed by all who experience it, is that it’s something meaningful, something that changes their lives, something that gives their lives a new perspective.
The majority of the time we spend our lives worrying about the material side of things, like getting a good job, our education, having enough money to pay the bills, getting a decent car, living in a nice house, enjoying ourselves with frequent holidays and some entertainment. It’s usually when an awakening happens that one starts to think about the more spiritual side of life, asking all sorts of questions and, yes, not getting all the answers to them, at least not the way we want – this happens a lot!
3 Things To Do When A Spiritual Awakening Occurs
Everyone reacts to a spiritual awakening differently. There’s no manual or book out there to be followed like the absolute truth and that tells one how to behave during an awakening. The thing to retain is… there’s no right and no wrong way to go about it.
1.One of the things that you can do is to start meditating, for example. You don’t have to meditate for hours a day; 5-10 minutes a day is good enough! A little meditation is always much better than no meditation at all.
2.Believe in yourself (more). Most people have a hard time believing in their abilities to do good things, great things, and even amazing things. When you fully believe in yourself, doors of endless possibilities open up for you. Realize that you’re an amazing being, not just a mere human that is on Earth only to work until old age and then pass away. Believe you’re a part of something much greater than what you see, that you’re an integral part of life itself!
3.Another thing you can do is create interest in how you can truly know yourself. Meditation is always a good start, asking your Higher Self (your true self) any question, but there are other ways you can get more information on yourself. For example, having some past life regression sessions usually helps and many people swear by them. Having an Akashic Records reading with a professional is also another great thing you can do. More often than not, you’ll find out what your purpose in life is, your path, some confirmations, and maybe even some surprising things you didn’t expect.
Always be aware of things, especially strange or just “different”, that might happen daily. These can come in many ways, like seeing repetitive numbers (so-called angel numbers or divine numbers), hearing strange sounds, like a ringing in one of your ears or both; finding “coincidences” in certain situations, and having strong feelings of wanting to spend more time by yourself.
You will most likely feel all sorts of emotions and probably you won’t even know where they come from, but you can “trust the process” (of awakening) that is occurring. Acknowledge these emotions and feelings, accept them and then release them if they don’t serve you. You might feel like you get annoyed easily by words or actions like you can’t have another boring conversation about work or the weather anymore, but that is the old you peeling away, starting to reveal a new you.
A spiritual awakening is not something to be feared or scared of; rather, it’s something to be embraced, for it’s an integral part of your development not only as a human but especially as a spiritual being.
