The WITCH HUNT and its true meaning
The beginning of the witch hunt can be traced back to 1374 and officially ended in 1782; during these 400 years, the use of language changed radically, shifting from symbolic to literal: the image of the witch, as we know it today, has likely persisted for so long due to a misinterpretation of medieval language and its original symbolism.
In the Middle Ages, another linguistic practice began that became the basis of modern society: the binary opposition, which defines everything acceptable and the values that one wants to promote at a given historical moment as GOOD, and the opposite of the good automatically becomes the EVIL to be eradicated, including behaviors, ways of being, personal and sexual preferences, religions and so on.
In the Middle Ages, anything that did not fit within the values of the time was considered the work of the Devil, and all those who behaved in a manner not in line with the customs of the time were considered to be under the influence of the Devil: regardless of gender, age, and social class.
The important values in medieval times were: masculinity, maturity, nobility, rationality, and humanity.
